Milk Peda Recipe (Using Milk Powder, Milk, Sugar & Ghee)

 Ingredients:

1 cup Milk Powder

½ cup Full Cream Milk

¼ cup Sugar (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon Ghee (plus a little extra for greasing hands)

Method:

1. Heat a Non-Stick Pan:
Add ghee and let it melt on low heat.

2. Mix Milk & Milk Powder:
In a bowl, mix milk and milk powder to form a smooth, lump-free mixture.

3. Cook the Mixture:
Pour the mixture into the pan and stir continuously on low to medium flame.

4. Add Sugar:
Once the mixture thickens slightly, add sugar. Stir continuously to dissolve.

5. Cook Until Dough-Like:
Keep stirring until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a soft, non-sticky mass (should take about 8-10 minutes).

6. Cool Slightly:
Remove from heat and let it cool for 5-7 minutes. The mixture should be warm, not hot.

7. Shape the Pedas:
Grease your palms with ghee, take small portions, roll into balls and gently flatten.

8. Set & Serve:
Let them set for 15-20 minutes at room temperature. Enjoy your homemade pedas!

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

1. Cooking on High Flame:
This can burn the mixture quickly or make the pedas chewy instead of soft.

2. Undercooking the Mixture:
If the mixture is not cooked enough, the pedas will remain sticky and won’t set properly.

3. Overcooking:
Leads to hard, dry pedas. As soon as the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and becomes dough-like, remove from heat.

4. Forming Pedas When Hot:
Shaping pedas when the mixture is too hot can burn your hands and the pedas may crack later.

5. Adding Too Much Sugar:
Extra sugar can make the mixture runny and prevent it from setting.

💡 Tips & Tricks for Perfect Pedas:

Use Full Cream Milk: It gives a rich and authentic taste.

Consistency Check: When the mixture rolls into a soft mass and starts leaving the pan sides cleanly, it's done.

Grease Your Hands Well: This prevents sticking and gives smooth-shaped pedas.

Optional Garnish: You can press a cashew or pistachio on top for a professional look (if using beyond the given ingredients).

Making Pedas at home is not only easy but also incredibly satisfying! With just a few simple ingredients and a little love, you can prepare delicious, melt-in-your-mouth Pedas right in your own kitchen.

Why rely on store-bought sweets when we can never be fully sure about their purity or safety? Adulteration is a growing concern, and packaged sweets often contain preservatives or low-quality ingredients. But when you make Pedas at home, you control the quality, hygiene, and taste—every bite is fresh, pure, and safe for your family.

So skip the sweet shop this time and try these homemade Pedas—you’ll be amazed at how quick and delicious they turn out!
